The Mind Shaft Society
is a collaboration of
anthropologists and archaelogists
whose first expedition was to
explore the sight revealed by
the hurricane force winds at
Burning Man 2000.

The Black Rock Rangers called upon
The Mind Shaft Society to examine the
the shaft and two miners who apparently
had died one hundred and fifty years ago
on the spot that is now the home of
the Burning Man Art Festival.

The Mind Shaft Society convened and planned
the expedition over the course of one year preceeding
Burning Man 2001.

The following are the findings which
are a work in progress.
